I saw the film about 5 hours ago, and I am still
shaking. I think my wife cried though the entire
second half of the film and she had her hands
covering her face for almost the whole thing.
Yeah, it was very intense, and I guess neither of us
were really expecting it. I thought the film was
going to be a one-man show with Will Smith roaming
the post apocalyptical world in what seemed to be a
lifeless world. Not to say that Will Smith didn’t
take command of the film and own it, because he
did. But the film was much more.
I’ve seen many end-of the-world-as-we-know-it movies
- from Mad Max to Water World; from Dr. Strangelove
to The Day After; from Night of the Living Dead to
Twenty Eight Days, but this one disturbed me the
most. It could be because of my advancing age I
value every day of life more, but I think in this
case it was the acting, direction, writing and the
effects.
Did it scare me and shake me up:? – yes. Did I
really enjoy it? - yes, it is one of the best.
