"Sexy Beast" is ranked right up there with "Memento" as one of the "coolest" movies of the year (and even has a character named Teddy!).  The story is basically about a top thief from England who has retired and moved to Spain, but is being coaxed into one more job by a hood played by Ben Kingsley.

You never know where this movie is going, it has a ton of great shots/scenes, and the acting is super.

Ben Kingsley plays one of the nastiest villains ever on film and he is great.  A sure best for a best supporting actor nomination.  He is so crude that you can't help but laugh at what he says.  The guy playing the lead role is really good too, I've never seen him before.

The only complaint I have about this film is that the British accent is tough to understand at times... wished there had been sub-titles.

The performances here are certainly very good-- we get a real understanding of the whole crime ladder through a top guy who's really very far from the top and a bottom guy who could become a top guy if only he didn't feel like saving his life by retiring to sunny Spain.   The film takes us on a fun (if not always surprising) ride.   Don't see it if you are expecting a very intricate or innovative plot, however.   This is a character-driven mood piece, with some semi-clever violence and plotting, and even an ex-porn-star thrown in.
